Link of the Week 5: Augmented Reality Tattoos

Remember that old show Pete and Pete where the youngest brother had a tattoo named Petunia which he could make dance hypnotically with a flex of his arm?  I can’t help but think of that animated tattoo when I see this week’s link from Discover Magazine’s blog.

Argentinian software company ThinkAnApp has upped the ante when it comes to body art; they’ve developed a software that reads temporary tattoo bar codes through web cams and displays them as moving, three-dimensional tattoos on your screen.  Some of you may remember this augmented reality technology from the Avatar/Coke Zero promotion, but using augmented reality technology with temporary tattoos may be the best technological advance in the market since scratch ‘n sniff… and that’s saying something.
